Autobiography
by Louis MacNeice
In my childhood trees were green
And there was plenty to be seen.
Come back early or never come.
My father made the walls resound,
He wore his collar the wrong way round.
Come back early or never come.
My mother wore a yellow dress;
Gentle, gently, gentleness.
Come back early or never come.
When I was five the black dreams came;
Nothing [...]

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Posted on December 3rd, 2009

Here are my recent Christmas and New Year findings
1. A Christmas Carol – A thin book but better read multiple times with a dictionary handy.
2. Turkey – Not only it has a lot of meat, the rib cage looks like the cylon ship in Battlestar Galactica.
3. The SidePillow by Tempur-Pedic has excellent support for [...]

I almost jumped up when I heard the word “BI” from our newly appointed IT lead (CTO, CIO, Senior Excutive of IT, whatever the title). Then, a slide, a pyramid with Data Warehouse in the middle and Business Intelligence at the top…… His introduction speech  turned into a BI awareness session.
This is unusual. I haven’t heard BW/BI mentioned [...]

Canada Day Celebration

Posted on July 1st, 2009

Today is July 1st, Canada Day, statutory holiday. Sunny now, rainy later, 14 – 19 C. Mandarin Restaurant, a famous Buffet Chain in Ontario, is free for all Canadian Citizens. I appreciate the offer, but don’t want to test the lineups. I’ll continue working on my robot arm project, ”The Canada Arm”, and read.
Immigrating to Canada from P. R. [...]

Last Saturday, I went to a birthday party of the son of an Indian friend. There were refreshments, alcohol, a dinner buffet, Punjabi dances, games for kids, dance music for the guests, in the end, everybody went to the dance floor. At the background, there was the slide show of pictures of the family on [...]

Random thoughts about the future

Posted on November 15th, 2008

Stock market is struggling to hold on to yet another support level.
Economy is going south.
Real Estate price is dropping.
Unemployment rate is rising.
……
It’s obvious something is happening, but people are still living in their own sweet dreams, buying 1-2 DVDs each month instead of 50, waiting for their investment to bounce back…
Will the time become difficult? Will there be [...]

Magic Bullet

Posted on June 14th, 2008

It’s the blender. I enjoy the expression on some people’s face when I say the name. This is one kitchen appliance I never get tired of.
Thing 1: breakfast smoothy
Banana, yogout, frozen fruits from costco
Optional – cereal, nuts, orange juice, water
Thing 2:  Hummus
Chickpea, chicken soup, garlic, lemon juice, tahini sauce

Cheese burger / bun

Cheddar cheese
Blue cheese
Fesh basil
Atipasto artichoke
They go well together.
